Don't forget about the Friends of the Library Tasty Treats Program! All the Friends are busily picking out recipes to make, typing them up and e-mailing them in so that we'll have a beautiful recipe book for people to take home. This is the fourth year we have held Tasty Treats, and every year it grows bigger! Check the events page for details and be sure to sign up to come.
All the Friends are making up two recipes of their treats so we can auction off the extras and make a little money for our Friends projects.
We're starting a little earlier this year, so that people can skip supper and come to Tasty Treats instead, if they want to. (Of course, this meal is a little heavy on sweets, and light on entrees) (if any) --last year there were 23 desserts out of 32 items. Just warning you....the Holiday season is upon us!

We're on the move at last! At least that's the way we feel. In reality, the point where we are in this new building project was reached after a very long and painstaking process. We spent years (literally) gathering information, doing surveys, large and small, looking at possible sites for a new library, and then studying, with the help of architects and consultants, to see which of those sites were most suitable.

We have talked with many people in the community, done a feasibility study, worked with community members to determine what is the most doable project while keeping our project goals in mind.

We crunched numbers, had meeting after meeting, set new goals, addressed issues on the part of Library Board members and community members. We had discussions with groups, large and small, and heard the concerns of many community members. And we reached consensus, on what is the best possible site for a new library. Then we spent months in negotiations, working with real estate professionals and lawyers, finally getting a signed document--a firm purchase offer on that best possible site.

We are involved in the next steps now--looking for grants that can help us to do the best possible library. We are closely investigating architects to see which firm of those we have qualifications from to figure out which firm will best fit our needs and our desires, to get us a design for the library this community deserves.

We are working on a public relations plan, establishing a database of volunteers and supporters, and listening, always listening to what this community wants from its new library. Many many people are involved in this process.

There are many levels where you can join this process. Perhaps the easiest and first is to join the Friends of the Library. Our Friends will be one of the essential pieces in the fundraising and advocacy efforts. I will continue to write updates as we get farther and farther into the process.
